It’s an act of love to sit still & do nothing ❣️

As we are creatures of habits, our minds also have habitual thinking patterns. For example, when you’re at your work you think about your next vacation, and then when you’re on vacation you think about your work. Our mind is always someplace else. We wish to be somewhere else. We have unconsciously trained our mind not to be where we are physically.

Sometimes it feels like we have a broken record player in our head. If you take time to observe your thoughts and get to know them better, you will notice that there are some thoughts that are useful and some that are not. Becoming aware of your thinking patterns allows you to replace those unwholesome thoughts with wholesome thoughts.

Today I’m sharing with you this sweet deep stretch, yin yoga practice as an invitation to make time to get to know your inner world – thoughts, emotions, sensations.

For me yin yoga is a form of meditation. As you’re slowly moving through the postures and holding them for longer periods of time, it gives you space to turn inward and notice your mind and body.

Whenever things get quiet, we reach for different distractions to fill the gap. We listen to music or podcasts when we’re on the tram. While we wait in line, we scroll though social media. While we’re on toilet we read news or comic books. We do everything to choke the space with continuous noise.

But only when the noise stops and you become still, you can hear yourself. You become aware of ongoing conversation you have with yourself, that inner narrative. You fill silence with awareness and let everything be as it is.

Giving yourself space, silence and stillness is one of the ways to practice self-love.

As you move through the day, you might periodically pause. Feel your breath, sense your body from the inside out. Notice how your body and mind are at the same place, at the same time.

Thank you for being here and reading this.
