Self-compassion meditation allows you to love and accept your imperfect self ✨
Self-compassion meditation
How do you respond when you’re passing through something challenging for you, or you make mistakes, or you can’t fit in your favourite pair of jeans, or you experience painful experiences from your childhood? Do you judge and criticize yourself, beat yourself up, catastrophize difficult situations? Do you try to ignore your painful emotions?
Instead, you could just give yourself a gentle, warm, bear hug and offer yourself a soothing and comforting words – I love you and accept you exactly as you are. Please do it right now! How your body feels after receiving the hug and these words of loving-kindness.
There is a way to relate to yourself and life difficulties with kindness, compassion and caring. How wonderful it would be if we could truly accept and embrace life as it is – both the light and the shadow!
This meditation is the way to sooth yourself by holding difficult thoughts and feelings with awareness, kindness, and compassion. It’s an accessible tool for no matter what situation you’re in. Tool that will help you treat yourself with kindness not only when you succeed but when you fail too. You will learn to bring a warm and kind attention to your feelings; to hold them in mindful awareness. And, with the help of your loved one, you will tend to your emotional needs by wishing yourself what you need most in the moment.
Guided Self-compassion meditation
As you go about your day, carry the sense of self-compassion with you. Whenever you encounter challenges or self-criticism, bring to mind the feelings of love and acceptance you cultivated during this meditation.
Self- compassion helps you navigate challenges in your life. It works by triggering the release of oxytocin “hormone of love and bonding” Oxytocin reduces fear and anxiety, and increases feelings of trust, calm, and safety. You feel more loving and accepting toward yourself. With love for yourself you can change, grow, make new amends, and learn.
To practice self-compassion, first you need to be mindful of your suffering, recognizing that the situation is difficult in the moment. Then you need to be kind and understanding with yourself. Lastly you need to remind yourself that you’re not alone, we’re all on the same boat.
To be honest with you, self-compassion was a lifesaver for me. It pulled me back to shore every time I was engulfed by the wave of pain and fear. It’s a powerful tool for dealing with difficult emotions. It helped me gain trust in my ability to face whatever surprises life throws my way.
I think that we can all benefit by learning to be more self-compassionate.
I hope you get to sprinkle your imperfect self with some love. Our imperfections make us unique and human.
Love you 💜
